It was a half day hack for the facebook-wearables hackathon in 2013, where it won the Fitbit prize. It was also entered in the Extreme iPad Challenge, where it placed finalist.

StatusBeta – Wearable Device Testing Platform http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/17/statusbeta-wearable-device-testing-platform/ http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/17/statusbeta-wearable-device-testing-platform/#comments Sun, 17 Nov 2013 12:51:01 +0000 yosun http://hacks.yosun.me/?p=278 I extended to a testing platform, a website that might look like an app store but is really just a bunch of my own Glass hacks – with virtual tryouts.

And then I entered it in the Salesforce Million Dollar Hackathon… which was a bit haphazardly managed, such that they ended up giving a tie for first place and up-ing the first place prize to giving away two million dollar prizes – however, I did not win. (I would probably not be feeling glum enough to document my hacks, if that happened.)

gyroFIRE Tryout – A Glass Simulator http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/15/gyrofire-tryout-a-glass-simulator/ http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/15/gyrofire-tryout-a-glass-simulator/#comments Fri, 15 Nov 2013 13:08:36 +0000 yosun http://hacks.yosun.me/?p=282 Basically, this lets you tryout Google Glass without actually having Glass on your regular mobile phone – well, gyroFIRE at least, where you can vicariously rotate a virtual head around to shoot stuff in Glass view o.O

StatusBeta aka OpenSideLoad http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/15/statusbeta-aka-opensideload/ http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/11/15/statusbeta-aka-opensideload/#comments Fri, 15 Nov 2013 12:35:31 +0000 yosun http://hacks.yosun.me/?p=277 StatusBeta was created to post the dozens of (native) Glass hacks (.apk) that I hacked together last summer, but friends also asked to upload, albeit I was warned by Glass Developer Evangelists that they would ban my API access (again) if I open up the Upload feature to anyone. o.O (Note: the original version had _optional_ _donations_ via monetary transaction using Google Wallets).

Other than listing the apps, with an auto-manifest-parse for permissions, the site checks if the user has Glass or not before letting them download the app. Also, there are a few browser-based tryout’s and a link to the new Launchy for apps that I was too lazy to re-build to have a voice trigger.

Since this site was basically a two weekend hack, I also adapted it for the Salesforce Million Dollar hackathon. Of course, I didn’t win.

gyroFIRE as a game http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/10/15/gyrofire-as-a-game/ http://hacks.yosun.me/2013/10/15/gyrofire-as-a-game/#comments Tue, 15 Oct 2013 12:03:34 +0000 yosun http://hacks.yosun.me/?p=250 A combination of Glass Shootout and Minecraft-ish

Around October, I tried organizing gyroFIRE into a game to get the concept of gyroscope-aim then “tap to action” out in a simplistic way. I don’t really take web dev seriously these days, so I structured the site to be _heavily_ inspired by the original Glass website.

The parody nature should have been evident, by the way What It Does is structured.

It included an online tryout version that lets you vicariously rotate a virtual Glass head, so that you can get an interactive idea without actually owning Glass (or putting it on your own head).

Users had to verify via the MirrorAPI that they owned Glass in order to download the app.

Out of personal research interest, I also had every single shooting action sent to the server, to know where someone is looking when they blow up a cube or teleport a goat*, or create a cube by “firing” minecraft-style.

*Teleport a goat is a nerdy joke for a vestigial function in Android ICS, viz, isUserAGoat() wherein they are subject to teleportations.
